Health Promotion Services - Injury Prevention Programs
Buckle Bear Presentations
Operation Buckle Bear consists of two 30-minute presentations
appropriate for daycare, kindergarten or first
grade classes. Buckle Bear is a lap puppet that
talks to children about booster seats, seat belts,
and bike and pedestrian safety. To schedule Buckle

"Children First Safety Always" Car Seat Program
The program consists of a 2-hour lecture, discussion,
and hands-on practice installing and using child
restraints properly. Two Certified Child Passenger
Safety Technicians will teach the course (the
course is offered in both English and Spanish).
The program fee is based on a percentage of all
household income. Participant must fill out the
enrollment form and return it to the Division
of Health Promotion at least 3 days prior to the
class. Someone from the office will call and let
the participant know the fee for the program.
The fee will only apply to those who are in need
of a child restraint. Participants must attend
the full 2-hour program in order to purchase a
low cost seat. For more information or to sign

Car Seat Checkpoints
Car seat checkpoints are conducted at least 6 times
a year at different locations throughout Weber
County. Certified Child Passenger Safety Specialist
including law enforcement officers are there to
provide instruction and information on how to
properly install your child's safety seat. They
also help educate and correct errors on seats
that are being misused. For more information call

Bicycle Safety
Health Department staff is available to help local schools
plan a bike safety rodeo. We also have a limited
supply of helmets available in child, youth, and
adult sizes and may be purchased individually
from the Health Promotion office by appointment.

Poison Control Information
The Health Promotion office has some helpful teaching
tools available for the local community to rent
