Reed Richards is the Deputy County Attorney
assigned to the Weber County Sheriff's Complex to provide
legal advice and council. In addition to providing general
legal council to the office leadership, his duties include
negotiating, preparing and reviewing legal documents and contracts,
reviewing and editing office policies and procedures for compliance
with state and federal law, preparing and working to enact
legislative changes for the Office and for the Utah Sheriff's
Association, representing the Office in litigation and working
with the county's insurance carrier on cases covered by insurance.
In addition, Reed also assists the Office leadership with
disciplinary and grievance issues and procedures, teaches
the legal portion of POST classes provided by the Office,
provides in-service legal training as needed, assists in establishing
the structure and organization of task forces; and represents
the Office and the Sheriff's Association on various working
groups and committees.
