Corrections as a Career
Corrections is one of the fastest growing
career fields in the country. Weber County needs dedicated,
professional staff in order to safely and securely operate
the Weber County Correctional Facility. Weber County Corrections
professionals provide a valuable service to the community
through community protection. Community protection is accomplished
by incarcerating offenders consistent with court orders and
operating the Correctional Facility in a manner that keeps
staff, the offender, and the public safe. The Weber County
Correctional Facility also maintains habilitative programs
designed to assist offenders in returning to the community
as law abiding and productive members of the community.
Corrections training is mandated by the
Utah Dept. of Public Safety and delivered through Utah Peace
Officer Standards and Training Academy. Once hired, Weber
County currently offers the Academy training at no cost to
the employee and pays the employee wages while attending the
Academy. Academy training lasts approximately 12 weeks followed
by a Field Training and probationary period at the Weber County
Correctional Facility. Weber County offers excellent pay and
benefits.
