Transportation

The Transportation Unit is responsible for all scheduled movement of inmates outside of the secure facility and all Video Court Bailiff duties. There is currently 1 Lieutenant, 1 Sergeant, 12 Deputies and 1 Office Specialist to accomplish these assignments.

Two deputies are assigned as Video Court Bailiffs. These deputies perform Bailiff services for the District Court, as well as, all local Justice Courts and numerous allied Courts throughout the State, to include the Board Of Pardons. 7039 inmates were seen via video court during 2011.

Ten deputies are assigned to transportation duties to include the following:

∙ Transports of Juvenile Offenders between facilities and or courts
∙ Weber Correctional Facilities to local courts. (Juvenile, Justice & District)
∙ Federal Court (US Marshal Inmates)
∙ Immigration (I.C.E. Inmates)
∙ Warrant / Commitments from other facilities
∙ Transfers to the Utah State Prison / Utah State Hospital
∙ Northwest Shuttle *** / Fugitive Extraditions
∙ Medical / Dental Appointments
∙ Orders to Produce / Transport
∙ Transfers between 12th Street & Kiesel Facilities

In total 14,625 inmates were transported in 3276 transports during 2011 by transportation staff.

*** Northwest Shuttle - The Weber County Transportation Unit is the Hub Agency and Coordinator for the State of Utah. The Northwest Shuttle moves fugitives within the Western United States. This is a cooperative effort by involved agencies to reduce extradition costs to individual agencies and Western States.

The Office Specialist is responsible for the scheduling & reporting of all transports.
