About the Patrol/Operations Bureau
The Patrol/Operations Bureau is the largest
part of the Weber County Sheriff's Office and is also the
most visible. It is known to some as the backbone of the Weber
County Sheriff's Office. The responsibility of maintaining
an orderly and safe environment for all citizens and guests
of Weber County is upheld by providing professional and courteous
service at all times.
The Weber County Sheriff's Office serves
eight contracted cities and all unincorporated areas of Weber
County. The Patrol/Operations Bureau currently consists of
thirty-six deputies, six sergeants, and one bureau commander.
Many specialty units have been created to better serve all
communities in Weber County including a Traffic Enforcement
Unit, Marine Patrol, Motorcycle Unit, Community Resource Unit,
and K-9 Unit. In addition, they assist with detail assignments
for the U.S. Forest Service and special event functions throughout
Weber County.
In the year 2003, our patrol officers responded
to or handled some 19,718 cases, with over 50,000 incidents
recorded. which included, but were not limited to, assaults,
agency assists, alcohol offenses, burglaries, citizen assists,
thefts, traffic accidents, and major emergency incidents.
In 2002, the Weber County Sheriff's Office
Patrol/Operations Bureau played a vital role in the 2002 Winter
Olympics. Many of our deputies were utilized in specialty
units to maintain crowd control and overall safety across
the Wasatch Front. This left tremendous work for the remaining
deputies in Patrol who maintained all areas of coverage throughout
Weber County. The Weber County Sheriff's Office is proud of
the men and women who serve this section.
The Patrol/Operations Bureau currently
has 47 deputies, 10 sergeants, 3 Lieutenants, and one Captain
Bureau Commander. Animal Services is now also under the Patrol/Operations
Bureau, and has 11 employees.
