The Weber County Sheriff’s Office began the School Resource Officer program in 1987. It began with two officers going to Weber High School and to begin the Law Enforcement teaching program. This program has grown to what we have today; nine full time officers spending their day at the school that is assigned to them. The Weber County Sheriff’s Office currently serves Fremont High, Two Rivers High, Bonneville High, Rocky Mountain Jr. High, Wahlquist Jr. High, T. H. Bell Jr. High and Snowcrest Jr. High.  The purpose for the officers to be in the schools is to provide law enforcement services and security, along with day to day interaction with the students.

Two of our nine officers are involved with the N.O.V.A. program and teaching it in the following schools: Farr West Elementary, Plain City Elementary, Pioneer Elementary, West Weber Elementary, Hooper Elementary, Kanesville Elementary, Freedom Elementary, Country View Elementary, West Haven Elementary, Uintah Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Washington Terrace Elementary, Valley Elementary and Quest Academy – both Elementary and Jr. High.  The Mission of N.O.V.A. Principles is: “Nurturing youth to seek out positive Opportunities, internalize good Values, and to accept Accountability for the choices in life. Principles assists parents, families, and communities in protecting youth from the potentially devastating effects of illegal drugs, violence, and negative media exposure.
