4-4-2012 -- Story Updated: Drowning Near Ogden Canyon

UPDATE: Victims Name Released - Stephen J. Webster of Salt lake City 

Today at 10:45 AM Weber County Sheriff Deputies and Ogden City Fire responded to a report of a drowning in the hot Pots located at the mouth of Ogden Canyon. A 68 year old male from Salt Lake City was visiting the hot pots with some friends also from the Salt Lake Area.  The victim was in one pool and his friends were in another pool a short distance away.  The group had been in the pools a little over an hour when one of the victims friends went to check on him and found the victim face down in the pool.

The victim’s friend got the victim face up and over to the side of the pool and a passerby called 911. CPR was performed by Weber County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Ogden Fire on scene. The victim was transported to McKay Dee Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Cause of death is unknown pending autopsy. The incident is under investigation by Weber County sheriff’s Office.

The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of family.
