4-18-2012 -- Burglary Press Release
Weber County Sheriff’s Office
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
For immediate release
In the past 40 days the Weber County Sheriff’s Office has been dispatched to a large number of burglary’s, vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts. These have mostly been crimes of opportunity as in most cases the vehicles were unlocked and had keys in them, as well as garage doors being left up at night. In almost every case there was no forced entry the suspects merely took advantage of unsecured vehicles and garages.
The number of burglaries is so high that recently deputies when they observe an open garage door while on patrol at night have been contacting home owners to request they close their garage doors.
Residents are strongly encouraged to close garage doors, and remove keys from vehicles and lock them.
