William Booth is a short change con artist. Booth will go to stores and purchase an item that costs around $4 to $5. Booth will pay for the item with a $100.00 bill. As Booth receives his change he will then start asking the clerk to make more change. Booth confuses the clerk by continually flipping through the bills in his hand and asking for more change. Ultimately Booth will leave the business with around $100.00 to $200.00 of the business’s money. Booth has done this scam at businesses and banks from Utah County to Cache County. Booth has done this scam several times in the past in Weber County. Booth was observed last in Weber County during August 2006.
Booth is very good at this scam and has done it hundreds of times. Booth will change his appearance often but the one thing he cannot change is the condition of his right arm. Booths right arm is wrapped and his fingers are very swollen due to a medical problem.
William Booth has close to 20 warrants outstanding for his arrest. If you have any information on the location of William L. Booth, or if you see Booth, please call your local police department or Detective Mark Lowther of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office at (801) 629-8221. |
